The Savannah community is preparing to celebrate her upcoming professional debut.
“I remember going into the other gym with the boys and watching her score 30 or 40 points. She was special since she was young,” said coach Stanley Moseley.
Back in Savannah, the community that supported her early on is also preparing to celebrate this moment in a big way.
The Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club will host a WNBA Draft watch party on Monday at 7 p.m., bringing people together to celebrate her journey from Savannah to the pro level.
Despite the outside noise, Johnson remains focused on the draft.
“My mindset right now is I can’t control any of that, so I’m not even thinking about it,” Flau’jae Johnson said.
According to ESPN, Johnson is projected to go No. 5 to the Chicago Sky.
“Johnson had ups and downs this season, but she has a lot of ability and might need to play against pros to start her next stage of development,” wrote Michael Voepel.
Meanwhile, CBS Sports has her going No. 9 to the Washington Mystics, though Jack Maloney noted she might not “fall this far.”
Despite a slightly underwhelming senior season, Johnson’s skill set still stands out, with her ability to create shots, attack the rim, score from midrange, and hit threes making her a strong fit for any WNBA roster.
So, which team do you think would be the best fit for Flau’jae Johnson’s playing style right now?
