Gabbie Marshall Sends Strong Message to Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin on Thursday
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Former Iowa Hawkeye Gabbie Marshall took to her Instagram story on Thursday to unveil two fresh jerseys side by side: a #No. 22 Indiana Fever Clark replica and a No. 20 Golden State Valkyries Martin jersey.

Marshall, a Cincinnati, Ohio, native who suited up for the Hawkeyes from 2019 through 2024, carved out a reputation as a versatile two-way guard.

Across five seasons, she averaged roughly 6.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 29.9 minutes per game across 166 contests, helping lead the Hawkeyes to back-to-back national title games in 2023 and 2024.

Alongside Marshall in each of those NCAA championship appearances were Clark and Martin, now both in the WNBA.

Her post on Thursday carried the message, "Get to reps my best friends!!!! @caitlinclark22 @katemartin… best surprise package ever @fanatics."

Clark’s arrival at Iowa in 2020 marked the beginning of one of the most decorated collegiate careers in women’s basketball history.

The Des Moines, Iowa, native rewrote the NCAA record books as the Division I all-time leading scorer (3,951 points) and two-time national player of the year (2023, 2024).

She led the country in both scoring and assists and was a USBWA First-Team All-American in each of her four years with the Hawkeyes.

In April 2024, Clark was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever and earned WNBA Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.

College teammate Martin complemented Clark’s superstar trajectory with steady production as Iowa’s four-year captain.

In her final year in 2023-24, she averaged 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors.

Though selected 18th overall by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Martin found a new home ahead of the 2025 season when the Golden State Valkyries claimed her in the league’s expansion draft.
