'I Already Told Steph': Caitlin Clark Predicts Number Of Technical Fouls She Will Have In 2025 WNBA Season
Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) reacts to a call Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, during a game between the Indiana Fever and the Minnesota Lynx at Gainbride Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Lynx defeated the Fever, 99-88.

Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark revealed that she had already vowed to head coach Stephanie White the number of technical fouls she would get for the entirety of the 2025 WNBA season.

In her appearance at “The Bird and Taurasi Show ,” which also included a live commentary on the NCAA women’s basketball finals, Caitlin Clark was asked about her problem with technical fouls during the 2024 season, and her plans as she heads for this year’s season.

“Under,” she said when asked if she would get over 4.5 technical fouls next season. “I already told Steph [White] two, max.”

Clark was not the only one who had a strong familiarity in getting technical fouls. During the 2024 WNBA season, Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi received seven technical fouls, which initially resulted in a one-game suspension. However, both the seventh technical and the suspension were later rescinded.

However, for some reason, Clark did not have any of her technicals get rescinded by the Fever’s front office.

“I was close to getting suspended for our last game, and obviously every front office tries to get your technicals taken away, and they wouldn’t take any of mine away.”

Overall, Clark received six technical fouls during the 2024 WNBA season. These fouls stemmed from a mix of passionate reactions and on-court incidents.

“I got two for slapping the stanchion of the hoop, and I got another one for accidentally hitting someone in the eye. So half of them weren’t even me getting to talk to the refs, which was dumb.”

During the same live commentary, Caitlin Clark also gave huge credit for Fever’s returning head coach, Stephanie White, who she elevated as “one of the smartest” in basketball.

“[Stephanie White] is one of the smartest basketball minds I’ve ever been around and everybody knows that across the league,” Clark said during the live commentary. “Everybody admires her and the way she coaches, the way she leads.”

In past interviews, White also praised Clark for her remarkable ability to handle fame and popularity with grace.

White highlighted Clark’s authenticity and humility, noting that despite her immense stardom, she remains grounded and true to herself. Drawing a comparison to Taylor Swift, White described Clark as “Taylor Swift 2.0,” emphasizing her understanding of her celebrity status and her ability to connect with fans.
