Just a day after the Chicago Sky’s season wrapped up, Angel Reese made her way to Las Vegas, where she was spotted at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford showdown on Sunday night. The highly anticipated fight, streamed live on Netflix, drew a star-studded crowd inside Allegiant Stadium—and the Chi-Town Barbie was right in the mix.

Before the bout, Reese slipped backstage to meet Crawford in his locker room. She hugged the champion, wished him luck, and even introduced him to a friend. When fight night photos of Angel Reese surfaced online, she instantly turned heads. Netflix posted a snap of her rocking a deep-plunge, all-black jumpsuit with gloves, a look that had social media buzzing.

Her mom quickly jumped in to defend her daughter from critics. Reacting to the viral picture, she posted on X with a fire emoji and added:

“Just saw those Netflix pics [fire moji]  I see why y’all mad [woman shrugging and a face with tears of joy emoji] #motion.”

Angel Reese appreciated the support, reposting with a simple: “thankyaaaaa.”

“It’s mind boggling”: WNBA fans throw shade at Angel Reese after Netflix pic goes viral

Despite the positive energy from her mom, not everyone was impressed. Hours after the pictures went live, WNBA fans flooded the comments with criticism. Some argued she was more focused on appearances than basketball.

“@netflix Angel Reese doing anything BUT play basketball,” one fan wrote.

Another piled on, saying: “The amount of Reese posts for someone suffering a ‘back injury’ in the WNBA—it’s mind boggling.”

Others accused her of hypocrisy, recalling her stance against being sexualized. “She doesn’t wanna be se*ualized but does it herself. Can’t play games she’s paid for because of her back, but as soon as the season ends she’s out twerking. LOSER,” one comment read.

The backlash comes on the heels of Angel Reese’s recent remarks about the Sky’s roster construction. Earlier this month, she told the Chicago Tribune the team needed to recruit better talent—or she would consider asking for a trade.
