Raven Johnson has quietly become an important piece of the Indiana Fever’s rotation during her rookie season. Selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft out of South Carolina, the former SEC Defensive Player of the Year has earned Stephanie White’s trust with her perimeter defense, playmaking and ability to run the offense off the bench. While her scoring numbers have been modest, Johnson has carved out a consistent role and has helped Indiana to a 16-10 record.
The rookie entered Wednesday having appeared in all 26 games for Indiana this season, and has been a valuable backcourt reserve behind Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. Her ability to defend multiple positions and handle point guard duties has allowed the Fever to manage Clark’s workload during stretches of the season.
Unfortunately for Johnson, her streak of availability has come to an end. During pregame warmups ahead of Wednesday night’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun, the rookie suffered a lower-body injury.
The Fever subsequently announced that Johnson was out for the game, dealing Indiana an unexpected setback just before tipoff.

The injury comes just over a month after Johnson dealt with another health scare when she tweaked her ankle during practice and appeared on Indiana’s injury report before a game against the Toronto Tempo. She ultimately recovered and has managed to stay healthy since. Johnson is averaging 3.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists off the bench this season.
The Fever will now hope Johnson’s latest injury proves to be a minor setback as they prepare to head into the All-Star break. With Indiana in the playoff race, having the rookie guard healthy remains important to the team’s chances of competing for the ultimate prize.
