With both Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark sidelined with injuries, the Indiana Fever have dropped to 4-5 to begin the 2025 WNBA season.

On Saturday, the Fever will look to get back on track, facing Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty for the second time this season.

Cunningham has missed the past three games due to a right ankle issue she reaggravated on May 30 against the Connecticut Sun. Clark, on the other hand, has missed five straight due to a left quad strain.

During Friday's practice session, coach Stephanie White mentioned that both Cunningham and Clark "should be available" for Saturday's game. And later, the Fever confirmed Cunningham's return.

"Sophie Cunningham will return to action tomorrow against New York," the Indiana Fever wrote on X.

With both guards coming back for Indiana, the Fever were forced to let go of Aari McDonald. The fifth-year guard was brought in on June 2 via emergency hardship exception. Even with DeWanna Bonner likely out, the Fever roster now jumps back up to 10 players, which led to McDonald's release.

Cunningham has been a solid presence for Indiana in four games off the bench. Averaging 21.8 minutes, she is averaging 6.5 points on 36.4% from distance, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Cunningham spent her first six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, playing alongside stars such as Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner. However, amid the Mercury's rebuild, they traded Cunningham to the Fever as part of a multi-team deal.

The Fever will host the Liberty on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET. Then, they will have two days off before facing the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.
