The Indiana Fever have lost both of their first two games with Caitlin Clark out due to a quad injury. Unfortunately, things got even worse for them in Friday's 85-83 loss to the Connecticut Sun.
Guards Sophie Cunningham and Sydney Colson also got hurt versus Connecticut, and as a result, they were both forced to exit Friday night's game. The situation has left the Fever thin in the backcourt, and with a 2-4 record, they're suddenly looking very vulnerable.
DeWanna Bonner scored 13 points off the bench, and she tried to keep Indiana's injuries in perspective after the game.
"It's better to happen now than later on in the year because we're still so early and we can still figure it out and adjust to it," Bonner said. "Losing bodies at the end of the year is really hard especially when you’re in a rhythm… good thing we’re not in a rhythm!"

The additions of Bonner, Cunningham and veteran two-time All-Star forward Natasha Howard seemed to make Indiana a legitimate championship contender coming into this season. But now, Cunningham has an injured ankle, while Colson, who had been filling in at starting point guard with Clark out, has a leg injury.
It is generally accepted that a team would rather have injuries early in a season than later on when it is fighting for optimal seeding or already in the playoffs. But major injuries at any time of the season can single-handedly torpedo a team's chances of winning it all.
The good news about Clark's injury is that it is merely a strained quad and that she is expected to miss a total of at least two weeks. The Fever initially announced that she was injured on Monday.
