Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky Game Sees Noticeably Low Ratings

Usually, the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky are must-see TV every time they met. That wasn't the case this past Saturday though.

The Fever cruised to a 92-70 victory over the Sky last weekend thanks to strong performances from Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull and Kelsey Mitchell. They combined for 74 points. It was one of Indiana's best performances during Caitlin Clark's absence. The former No. 1 pick has been out since July 15 due to a groin injury.

Clark wasn't the only marquee name who sat out on Saturday. The Sky didn't have All-Star forward Angel Reese at their disposal. She's been dealing with a back injury for the past five games.

"It was ugly, ugly for me, but I tried to push through as much as I could for my teammates because I know they need me out there," Reese recently said. "When I am out there, I don't think about an injury. It can happen anyway, anytime. If I'm thinking about it too much, it's gonna happen again. So, just trying to fight through contact as much as I can and do whatever I can for the team."

Although it's not a huge surprise, Saturday's TV ratings for the Fever-Sky game took a major hit due to Clark and Reese's injuries.

According to Front Office Sports, 1.31 million viewers tuned in for Saturday's game on CBS. That marks the lowest viewership for a Fever-Sky game since Clark and Reese joined the WNBA.

Back in May of this year, ABC landed 2.7 million viewers for the Fever-Sky game. That had some added juice since it was the season opener for both squads.

The Fever and Sky will meet again on Sept. 5 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Hopefully, both teams will have their star players on the court.
