Kelsey Mitchell is coming off arguably her best WNBA season to date. The 5-foot-8 guard played all 44 regular-season games for the Indiana Fever, averaging a career-high 24.7 points on 50.9% shooting, 1.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.0 steals. Mitchell also hit a career-best 3.1 3-pointers per game on 45.0% shooting.
Mitchell helped lead the Fever to a franchise-best 28 regular-season wins. She earned All-WNBA First Team honors and finished third in the MVP vote.
However, Indiana fell short of its championship aspirations this year. They could not get past the first round of the playoffs, losing to the Las Vegas Aces in a three-game series.
Mitchell has been keeping busy now that the Fever is in the offseason. She recently hosted a Halloween-themed youth basketball camp for her foundation, the Kelz Hoop Foundation.
The Fever star took to social media on Thursday to share a video from the event.
“another KelzHoop Halloween Biddy Ball success!” Mitchell captioned her Instagram story.
In another post, the 30-year-old shared a video of herself posing with the kids at center court. “KelzHoop love them babies!” she wrote.
Mitchell established the Kelz Hoop Foundation in 2020 to support student-athletes with limited opportunities. One initiative is her annual basketball camp, open to boys and girls in K-12.
Mitchell is entering a pivotal offseason. She is set to become an unrestricted free agent, meaning she can take her talents elsewhere if she wants.
The Fever will do what they can to re-sign their star guard, but ultimately, it will be Mitchell’s decision whether she wants to stay.
