Phoenix Mercury star Kelsey Plum didn’t take too long to answer which WNBA star can sell out an entire arena. However, while many would expect her to say Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, who has been the most popular player in the league since arriving in 2024, Plum had a different answer.
Plum pointed directly to WNBA All-Star Angel Reese, who is having a big year with the Atlanta Dream. The 24-year-old forward is averaging 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game this season, all while winning the last two Player of the Week honors.
“One player to sell out the whole arena? Angel Reese,” Plum said without pausing to think about her answer, via Boardroom.
Plum’s response highlighted Reese’s growing standing among the biggest stars in the WNBA and reflected her increasing impact beyond her on-court performance.
Reese has become one of the WNBA’s most popular figures since entering the league in 2024 after being drafted by the Chicago Sky. In fact, she’s the most-followed WNBA player on Instagram, boasting 5.2 million followers.
Her trademark intensity on the court and strong presence off of it have made her into one of the major attractions of the league, with fans regularly following the Dream star’s every move.
That popularity has translated to three WNBA All-Star appearances and a number of endorsement deals, including campaigns for Reebok and Victoria’s Secret.
For what it’s worth, Reese and the Dream have also sold out a lot of their home games this season.

Plum’s message ultimately speaks to Reese’s value as one of the WNBA’s largest draws. Whether it’s her performance on the court, a magnetic personality or an expanding influence with fans, the Dream forward has proven her ability to command attention.
