As if she wasn’t off to a strong start to her career, Kiki Iriafen has already put her name in the record books. Despite a loss against the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, Iriafen captured her 16th double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

With this performance, Irafen has broken the Washington Mystics record for most double-doubles in a single season. Passing former Washington forward, Crystal Langhorne’s 15 double-doubles in 2010.

This achievement, along with her All-Star nod earlier in the season, keeps Iriafen in the Rookie of the Year race, including her teammate Sonia Citron.

Iriafen’s season averages consist of a near double-double within itself, with 13.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

Even with Washington suffering nine straight losses, the future of the team looks bright with Irafen and Cirton having tremendous rookie seasons.
