The Washington Mystics got themselves a winner by drafting Lauren Betts who recently won the NCAA title with the UCLA Bruins. The 6'7 center was picked fourth overall by the Mystics who finished the 2025 season with a 16-28 record, good for a 10th-place finish.

Betts, one of the tallest in this year's draft class, is the first Bruin to be selected. Her teammates Gabriela Jaquez and Kiki Rice were selected fifth and sixth, respectively.

While her height makes her standout, her brother still managed to steal the spotlight. Turned out, he has a younger brother who should be on his way on his own basketball career.

Betts was accompanied by her family in the WNBA draft held at The Shed at Hudson Yards. She was pretty much expression-less when her name was called but her brother Dylan can't contain his emotions.

When he stood up for a photo-op, most people only have one thought - does he play? Dylan is much taller than her sister and instantly received comparisons to NBA superstar Victor Wembanyama because of it.

"How tall is he? Love this family," wrote one user in a video posted by BRW Sports.

"Well when he getting drafted?" asked another.

"The fact that Lauren is 6’7 and he is towering over her. " an amazed user wrote.

"Bro is easily 7’0".

Basketball runs deep in the Betts family. Lauren's father Andrew is a former British basketball professional who was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1998 although he spent his entire career in European leagues. Her sister Sienna is 6'4 and is still with the Bruins.

Dylan is 7'3 and has been getting interests from Division I teams like the Purdue Boilermakers, the Washington Huskies and the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. He is considered a rising star in high school, getting five stars rating from 247 Sports.

Dylan will have to wait for his time in the pro league. For now, all eyes are on Lauren.

The Mystics are investing on youth as the had a total of six selection in the draft. Betts will join a team that has rising stars Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron who were both drafted last year.

Betts is one of the best prospects in this year's batch after her successful 2026 postseason. She finished the NCAA tournament as the Most Outstanding Player after helping them win the title against the South Carolina Gamecocks, finishing the season with 17.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.
