Lexie Hull Suffers Injury Scare During Indiana Fever Game

Lexie Hull and the Indiana Fever returned to action on Friday night. They traveled north to face the Toronto Tempo in a road matchup at Coca-Cola Coliseum. This marked the Fever’s first game after the 17-day WNBA break for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Hull, however, suffered an injury scare in the first half. The 6-foot-2 guard took a hit to the face and had to leave the game to be checked. The team’s medical staff attended to Hull on the sidelines.

Hull was seen on the broadcast bleeding from the nose. The medical team inserted cotton into both nostrils to prevent the bleeding. She remained on the bench for a few minutes but was able to check back into the game later.

Hull looked fine in the second half, and it did not look like her nose was bothering her. The 27-year-old has been a durable player for the Fever, playing in all 41 games this season.

Hull is no superstar, but she’s played a pivotal role for the team this year. She has started 38 straight games for Indiana, averaging 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per contest. The veteran’s numbers have been modest, but what she brings to the table goes far beyond the box score.

The Fever entered Friday’s game with a 26-14 record and fifth in the standings. They have four games remaining in the regular season, including this matchup against Toronto.

Hull and Co. are aiming for a top-4 finish to secure home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
