Right now, the New York Liberty are in contention for another WNBA title. But the defending champions are going through some choppy waters at this point.
Guard Jonquel Jones will miss 4-6 weeks due to an ankle injury. Leonie Fiebich is still out playing ball overseas in EuroBasket. Sabrina Ionescu didn't play against the Seattle Storm due to a neck injury.
While Jones' absence is going to hurt New York, which still has Breanna Stewart out their hitting jumpers and 3-pointers all over the court.

Stewart will need to keep playing solid on offense and defense so that the Liberty can maintain their steady style of play.
The Liberty fell one spot to No. 3 in the latest WNBA Power Rankings, according to ESPN.
Jones first suffered her ankle injury back on June 5, missing two games. She came back on June 17 in a victory over the Atlanta Dream and posted a double-double. In last Thursday's loss to the surging Phoenix Mercury, Jones re-injured her right ankle.
New York, 10-3 overall going into Tuesday, is in the midst of a four-game road trip. The Liberty did not reach the Commissioners Cup final. So, the team can now focus on getting back to the pinnacle of WNBA play.
Liberty coach Sandy Brondello has been able to make game-situation decisions that keep her team in games. With some players either not healthy or not available, Brondello will need to work extra on making sure her offensive and defensive plays work with who she has to put on the court.
Still, no one in the WNBA should count out New York at all. The Liberty know what it takes to become champions. It's going to be a tough stretch for the Liberty in the next few games.
