'She Would Be Drawing Flies': Angel Reese Not An WNBA Draw If Not For Going Against Caitlin Clark, Says Ben Shapiro

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese got blasted by one conservative commentator over the issue of her impact on the NWBA compared to Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.

In one of his recent videos , American conservative political commentator, author, and media personality Ben Shapiro gave his honest take on the issue of the supposed rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, and who makes an impact in the games they are playing.

For Shapiro, Caitlin Clark is the real crowd puller, while Angel Reese would “be drawing flies.”

“Now, can we be clear about this? If Caitlin Clark were not in the WNBA, we would not be talking about the WNBA,” Shapiro said. “She is the only ticket draw in the WNBA. A large percentage of all tickets sold in the WNBA are so people can watch Caitlin Clark play basketball. No one cares about Angel Reese. She should be drawing flies if she were playing, not against Caitlin Clark on the court right now. Essentially, that is where we are.”

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have both significantly impacted WNBA viewership, but Clark’s presence has had a more dramatic effect on ratings and ticket sales.

Clark’s games have repeatedly set viewership records, with her season opener against Reese’s Chicago Sky drawing 2.7 million viewers, peaking at 3.1 million. Her influence extends beyond individual games—five of the most-watched WNBA regular-season contests in the past two years featured Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Additionally, ticket prices for Fever games have fluctuated based on her availability, with prices dropping significantly when she was sidelined due to injury.

Angel Reese, Chicago Sky Predicted to Lose to Indiana Fever Despite No Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky are gearing up for a challenging game against the Indiana Fever, who have been struggling in the absence of Caitlin Clark. Despite losing three consecutive games, the Fever remain favored to win, according to ESPN’s Matchup Predictor, which gives them a 57.6% chance of victory.

The Sky, on the other hand, has been gaining momentum with back-to-back wins against the Dallas Wings. With Indiana missing key players due to injuries, including Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham, Reese and her teammates see an opportunity to capitalize on their opponent’s weakened roster.

The Fever’s recent struggles highlight the impact of Clark’s absence, as they have yet to secure a win without their star player. ESPN’s prediction previously favored Indiana against the Washington Mystics, but the Fever ultimately lost that game 83-77. Meanwhile, the Sky have had the advantage of extra rest, playing only one game this week compared to Indiana’s busy schedule.

As the game approaches, Angel Reese remains focused on maintaining her team’s winning streak and proving that Chicago can compete at a high level. With Indiana facing multiple setbacks, the Sky have a strong chance to pull off an upset and continue their upward trajectory.
