Sky Player on Temporary Leave Gets Message From Chicago Coach Tyler Marsh

Brazil is moving on to the semifinal of the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup after a dominant 84-61 victory against Mexico on Friday.

This was thanks in large part to a monster performance from Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, who exploded for 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, 16 rebounds, an assist and two blocks, as she helped lead Brazil to their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

Cardoso's big outing made all sorts of waves online, and it also drew the attention of Sky head coach Tyler Marsh. The first-year Chicago shot-caller reposted a screenshot of Cardoso's statline from the win against Mexico. Marsh had a wordless message for his center, too, adding three hyped emojis to his post.

Cardoso's performance clearly pumped up Marsh, and the Sky coach just had to express his emotions on Instagram.

Cardoso has missed Chicago's last two games amid her international obligations. She's made sure to make the most out of her time away from her team, though, averaging 13.8 points on 65.9% shooting, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 blocks as one of the most important players on Brazil's roster.

With their win against Mexico, Cardoso and Co. are headed to the semifinal, where they will face off against rivals Argentina on Saturday.

Should they win that game, Brazil will fight for the gold medal on Sunday against either the United States or Canada.

The Sky, on the other hand, return to action on Sunday in a pivotal matchup against the league-best Minnesota Lynx, and they will still be without Cardoso for that one.
