Sophie Cunningham continues to make moves during the 2026 WNBA offseason. The veteran guard, who played last season with the Indiana Fever, returned on a one-year deal to the team.
Cunningham embraced her role of enforcer, defending Caitlin Clark against anybody who tried to hurt the Fever’s star. Despite rumors and speculation about her future, Cunningham agreed to return to the team.
Additionally, the former Phoenix Mercury shared footage of her baptism at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Peoria, Arizona, on TikTok this week.
“I got baptized when I was little but I was feeling a tug on my heart to do it on my terms as an adult! Such a fun, amazing day. Thank you Jesus,” she captioned the post.

After an MCL tear cut her season short, Sophie Cunningham had unfinished business with the team. Both parties agreed to extend the partnership for at least one more season. Cunningham issued a statement to celebrate her return.
“We had a really special group last year and it was an incredible first season for me in Indy; I loved everything about my teammates and the Fever organization,” Cunningham said. “We fought through a ton of adversity, and it was important to me that we have a chance to see through what we started. I have a feeling this is going to be another special season, so I’m excited to get things started and to, of course, keep playing in front of the best fans in the WNBA. Let’s get spicy!”
The Fever went all the way to the semifinals last season. They should be better this campaign. With a healthy group, this team could make a splash.
