Sophie Cunningham had quite an eventful first season with the Indiana Fever. While it ended prematurely due to an MCL injury in her right knee, Cunningham still established herself as a key member of the Indianapolis franchise.

The 29-year-old averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steal in 30 regular season games. She shot 43.2% from deep and became a key defensive player and reliable backup guard for Indiana.

What made Cunningham a fan favorite in Indiana, however, was her scuffle during a game against the Connecticut Sun back in June. To recall, the veteran guard committed a hard foul on Jacy Sheldon, grabbing her by the head and letting her fall to the court.

It came after Sheldon had poked Caitlin Clark in the eye and bumped into her, before Marina Mabrey shoved the Fever star.

Interestingly, as Cunningham reflected on her season with a post on Instagram on Thursday, she included a photo of her and Sheldon. While it's not clear which game it was taken from, the snap quickly drew the attention of Cunningham's followers.

The photo showed Cunningham and Sheldon colliding face-to-face.

"how did you not break your nose in slide 13?!?" a commenter wrote, referring to the photo and how Cunningham's nose was hit due to the collision.

"Slide #14 with Jacy is wild," a follower added, to which another Instagram user responded, "for real!! I've never seen that one!!"

"The 13th pic… I’m f deeeead," a fan remarked.

A poster joked, "It’s nice to see that you and Jacey kissed and made up."

"The one with Jacy wins," a sixth supporter stated.

The Fever are now in full offseason mode after they lost to the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA semifinals. The team is set to make some big decisions on a number of its key players who are entering free agency, including Cunningham.

Clearly, though, Cunningham has connected well with fans and has ingrained herself into the community.
