Los Angeles Sparks guard and WNBA All-Star Kelsey Plum has gotten into some drama following a strange interaction with fans on Thursday.
Plum, 30, was seen walking to the team’s hotel but was intercepted by fans, who wanted her to sign trading cards they had collected. During the short video, she is seen looking creeped out by the situation and said, “Don’t y’all find that kinda weird,” after the fan told her they saw the team's bus and decided to wait for her.
Ultimately, Plum “signed one” of the cards for each fan, which pleased them. However, following the interaction, Sparks' forward Dearica Hamby provided context to help ease the situation.
“We literally left for practice and changed hotels… so to be there the moment we got there after SWITCHING hotels without being like HEY WE’RE SWITCHING HOTELS was weird,” Hamby, 31, wrote on X, Thursday.
There is context to this. We literally left for practice and changed hotels… so to be there the moment we got there after SWITCHING hotels without being like HEY WE’RE SWITCHING HOTELS was weird https://t.co/gkO5Q0Gwvf

Plum’s interaction came after she could not play in the Sparks game on Tuesday against the Seattle Storm. She was sidelined with a lower left leg injury, and a timetable for her return has yet to be announced.
Without Plum, Los Angeles lost its ninth game of the season to Seattle, 98-67. Hamby scored eight points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists but turned the ball over five times.
The Sparks' next game of the season is on Saturday against the Minnesota Lynx on the road inside the Target Center at 8 p.m. on NBA TV, where Plum could make her return to the starting rotation.
