Stephanie White Identifies Kelsey Mitchell as a Key Offensive Leader for the Fever

As three-time WNBA All-Star Kelsey Mitchell returns for her ninth season with the Indiana Fever after agreeing to a new deal ahead of 2026, the head coach is full of praise for the star guard.

The Indiana Fever have signed Kelsey Mitchell to a one-year, $1.4 million supermax deal, and according to the head coach, she’s worth every dollar.

“She’s probably the one player on our roster who can go out and get a bucket without needing any help,” said Stephanie White about Kelsey Mitchell, as shared by I Talk Hoops on X.

And it’s not even an exaggeration. Kelsey Mitchell is coming off the best season of her career with the Indiana Fever. She won the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup, earned her first All-WNBA First Team selection, and was also a finalist for the 2025 WNBA MVP.

In 2025, Kelsey Mitchell averaged 20.2 points per game, breaking the franchise record for three-pointers set by Tamika Catchings in 2003. She also earned her third straight All-Star selection and won Player of the Week twice, backing up her coach’s belief that she can take over games on her own.

In the playoffs, Kelsey Mitchell led the Indiana Fever to their first semifinal appearance in 10 years. She played all eight games and scored 178 points, the third-most in franchise postseason history.

As her impact keeps growing, so does her importance to the Fever’s future.

Kelsey Mitchell’s Impact Over Her Time With the Indiana Fever

“For nearly a decade, Kelsey Mitchell has been a foundational piece of the Indiana Fever, and securing her return was our highest priority,” said team COO and General Manager Amber Cox.

“Kelsey Mitchell is among the top of a long list of great athletes who have elevated not only our city and franchise, but the sport as a whole. She further cemented her legacy last season, and we hope her return underscores how much she is valued by our entire organization,” the GM added.

The numbers back it up. Over eight seasons with the Indiana Fever, Kelsey Mitchell holds the franchise record for three-pointers (669) and ranks second in games played, points, field goals, and free throws, while sitting fourth in assists.

Drafted No. 2 overall in 2018, Kelsey Mitchell has played 277 of 282 games for the Indiana Fever and led the team in scoring in seven of eight seasons, including a record 890 points in 2025.
