The Indiana Fever (21-20) are heading into the final stretch of the regular season with just three games left, and head coach Stephanie White shared some key updates ahead of Friday’s matchup with the Chicago Sky.
Recently acquired forward Chloe Bibby was ruled out for the season with a knee injury, adding to a growing list of setbacks. Bibby becomes the fourth Fever player lost to a season-ending injury, joining Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson.
The team is also still without star point guard Caitlin Clark, who has appeared in just 13 games this season and hasn’t played since before the WNBA All-Star break.
While there haven’t been major changes to her official status, White indicated there may soon be more clarity on what the rest of the year will look like for the second-year superstar.
“We really wanted to use this West Coast trip to evaluate. We’re gonna sit down after practice today and have a direct decision,” White said.
When asked about the timeline, White pointed toward having an answer before Tuesday’s regular-season finale:
“Yeah, I mean I think that’s the hope," White added. "We knew we had a stretch over the weekend to really see where we are, and the hope is to sit down and really have an answer... She hasn’t been able to do a whole lot of contact. So she’s been able to get up and down 5-on-0... but hasn’t been able to do a whole lot of contact.”
Steph White said they used the West Coast trip to evaluate Caitlin Clark, and they’re having a meeting after practice today to talk about her availability for the rest of the season.

At this point in the season, the fact that Caitlin Clark still hasn’t taken part in contact drills is concerning—especially with the WNBA playoffs just around the corner. The Fever currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot, with the Los Angeles Sparks close behind and pressing to get in.
Clark’s return would provide a massive boost for Indiana, but questions linger about what version of her the team would actually get after being sidelined for more than a month.
The Fever’s top priority is ensuring Clark is fully healthy before making any push to bring her back. With that being the most logical approach, her chances of returning this season appear increasingly unlikely if she doesn't begin contract drills soon, despite earlier reports suggesting the goal was to have her back before the end of the regular season.
