There has been a lot of talk about the relationship between Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White.
Despite the fact that the two have been nothing but complimentary toward each other, there are still many fans who believe that White is not the right fit for Clark. In fact, some have gone so far as to claim that the former WNBA Coach of the Year has an agenda against Clark.
Both Clark and White have chosen not to address any of the unsavory rumors about their relationship. Instead, they’re both doing what they can to help the Fever achieve their collective goals this season.
White’s connection with the Fever’s cornerstone superstar has been pivotal to the team’s success. As of writing, the Fever are 4-2 and are in the midst of a three-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, White joined the “Query & Company” podcast for an interview. One of the questions she faced concerned how things stand between her and Clark. The veteran coach made it abundantly clear that there are no issues whatsoever.
“It’s great, it’s great,” White said of her relationship with Clark. “I have so much respect and admiration for her as a player, as a person, and the way that she handles herself. We’re very much alike in terms of our competitive fire, our competitive spirit, our perfectionism, so to speak, and our Type A personalities.
“I love going to work with her every day. I love that she loves to be coached and challenged and pushed. She wants to be the best, and you want to be surrounded by people who want to be the best.
“So she makes it easy to come to work and to get after it every day.”
White has doused cold water on any and all unsubstantiated rumors about her supposed beef with Clark. Whether or not her statement here shuts down all the hearsay from fans, however, is an altogether different matter.
Either way, the Fever will be looking to keep their foot on the gas in their next game. They return to action on Thursday for a road matchup against the Golden State Valkyries. Tipoff from Chase Center is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET.
