The Las Vegas Aces achieve a first in franchise history, they clinched a game 3 win in the finals.

The first half got off to speedy start as the Mercury took advantage of being back at home with their home crowd behind them to go up early in the first quarter, but the Aces came thundering back to hold the lead for most of the first half.

A’ja Wilson made history yet again as she moved in to second in league history for most playoff blocks, passing Candace Parker. The Aces closed out the first haf with a 29-20 lead.

In the second half, A’ja Wilson hit yet another milestone. Wilson became racked up the most points in a single postseason. The Aces held a sizable lead all the way up until the fourth quarter. Kahleah Copper came up for the Mercury shooting a monster three-pointer to help the Mercury close the gap.

Things started to get tight for the Aces as the Mercury clawed their way back after being down 80-69 with 6:04 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The tide turned for the Mercury when Aces center Megan Gustafson fouled DeWanna Bonner to send her to the charity stripe where she sank both pivotal free-throws to tie the game at 88-88.

The M’VP A’ja Wilson put her team on her back in the final seconds to secure a slim 2-point win, 90-88 to go up 3-0 in the series.

Jewell Loyd recounted the final seconds of the game, “Honestly defense. I went right back on defense. Once they (Mercury) called a timeout, it was just, find your teammates, celebrate the moment.”

Wilson closed out the game with 34 points, shot 11 for 20 from the field, 14 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists.

DeWanna Bonner led the Mercury, scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Phoenix is in a must win situation in game 4 at home.

Following the win, A’ja Wilson spoke to the blind trust that the Aces have in each other, Wilson said, “Understanding that your teammate is going to hold you accountable but they’re also going to be there for you.”

The Aces are just one win away from a third WNBA championship in four years if they can eek out the win in game 4 on the road.

Game 4 will be played on Friday, October 10 at 5pm PT on ESPN.
