The Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky are in action on Saturday night in a rivalry showdown that is missing its main stars. Both Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese were out of action for this one as both All-Stars deal with respective injuries.
Two other players were sidelined for this matchup as well, as Fever veteran Sydney Colson and Sky star Courtney Vandersloot both sat out. Their situations are much different from that of Clark and Reese, though, with Colson and Vandersloot both dealing with season-ending injuries.
Vandersloot tore her ACL and had to undergo surgery in June. Colson, on the other hand, suffered an ACL tear in the Fever’s blowout loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday.
Vandersloot took to social media on Saturday to send a message to Colson, who is now in the same boat as her. The Sky guard shared a factoid about how they are the only two remaining players from the 2011 WNBA Draft — and that they are now both done for the year because of similar injuries. “Come back about to be crazy! @sydjcolson,” Vandersloot wrote.
Colson caught wind of Vandersloot’s message and decided to respond.
“Wow this is crazy but right there witcha sloot!” wrote the Fever veteran.

It’s going to be a tough road ahead for both Colson and Vandersloot as they look to work their way back from a career-threatening injury, especially considering how they are now both 36 years of age.
Be that as it may, it’s great to see these two veterans coming out to support each other in their respective journeys.
