Since being drafted No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in 2024, Caitlin Clark has quickly become one of the brightest young stars in the WNBA. Known for her logo-range threes and creative playmaking, she’s already drawn comparisons to legends. But now? She’s in the middle of a hilarious off-court debate—one that has nothing to do with points or assists.

On a recent episode of the Sports Are Fun podcast, the crew threw out a fun hypothetical: a t-shirt throwing contest between Clark and Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum. Both have gone viral for their shirt-slinging form—Clark at a Pacers playoff game this year and Plum during the Spurs’ 2017 postseason run.

“Kelsey Plum has a cannon,” one panelist declared. “She’s only gotten stronger since then. Kelsey Plum’s arms are yacked.”

Caitlin Clark got her love too. “She’s putting in her arm workouts—really getting beefier,” another added. “But Kelsey’s got years on her.”

Naturally, the debate caught fire on social media and eventually reached Plum herself. Her reaction? Iconic.

“Lmaoooooo this is wild,” she replied.

But while fans were cracking up over t-shirt tosses, another Plum-Clark moment started trending—this one from last year’s WNBA All-Star Game. A clip resurfaced of Kelsey Plum applying full-court pressure on Clark, leading one fan, @nosyone4, to question the intensity in what’s supposed to be an exhibition game.

Plum, never one to bite her tongue, clapped back with classic flair:

“Dawg could have been CC, could have been my grandma. coaches made me pick up full court and deny the ball back, I tried… k leave me alone bye.”

Though the two stars have gone head-to-head multiple times, there’s no real bad blood. Plum’s Aces beat Clark’s Fever in all four matchups last season, with Plum outscoring her by about 7 points per game. Still, Clark held her own—racking up more rebounds, assists, and steals.

Whether it’s t-shirt tosses or toe-to-toe battles on the hardwood, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum are proving that women’s hoops is not just competitive—it’s wildly entertaining. So if that cannon-throwing contest ever becomes real? We’re courtside.
