Megan Gustafson’s college and professional career

After establishing herself as the all-time leading scorer in Wisconsin high school girls’ basketball, Megan Gustafson went on to establish a basketball career at the University of Iowa. Over the course of 4 seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes, the power forward/center played in 135 games, started in 116 of them, and averaged an impressive 20.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. On the shooting front, she averaged 8.4-12.8 (65.6%) field goals and 3.9-5.1 (76.8%) free throws.

According to her bio on the Iowa Hawkeyes’ official website, Megan Gustafson once led the nation in five categories. This included points per game (27.8), field goal percentage (69.6), total points (1,001), field goals made (412), and double-doubles (33). She also once ranked second in defensive rebounds per game (11), and third in rebounds per game (13.4) and total rebounds (481). On top of that, Gustafson also became the fourth NCAA women’s basketball student-athlete and the first ever post player to score 1,000 or more points in a single season.

In just one year, back in 2019, she won Naismith College Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, ESPNW National Player of the Year, USBWA National Player of the Year, the Honda Sports Award, the Lisa Leslie Award, and the Senior CLASS Award. As a result, when she finally put her name in the 2019 WNBA draft, she was selected as the 2nd overall pick! The rest, as they say, is history.

Megan Gustafson’s brand endorsements

Back in August 2025, Megan Gustafson launched her own children’s book titled ‘Pancake’s Passport’. The Aces star reportedly based the book on the global travels with her pet corgi, Pancake. Amazon describes the book by writing, “From city lights to peaceful forests, Pancake’s Passport is a heartwarming, faith-based picture and chapter book that reminds kids they’re never too little-or too different-to discover God’s purpose for their own lives.”

‘Pancake’s Passport’ is the first book to be released under Gustafson’s new publishing company, The Inspired Bookshelf. When discussing the inspiration behind this idea, the Aces player said, “I’ve always had a marketing mind. I loved it in college and undergrad and being able to further explore that in my MBA.”

Gustafson also has a partnership with Nike. While the exact details are not known, the player has been seen wearing different shoes from the brand, including the Cosmic Unity 2, the KD Trey 5 X, and her teammate A’ja Wilson’s signature sneakers, aka the A’ones.

Megan Gustafson once wore a customized pair of Nike Air Deldons on court. Titled “Pancake in the Valley” and designed by sneaker artist Katie Shaffstall, it features the player’s corgi, with hand-painted cacti along the front and back of the sneaker that pay homage to the Phoenix Mercury’s local environments.
