The Chicago Sky have signed point guard Skylar Diggins to a two-year contract.

“Skylar is a player we have coveted for years. We are ecstatic to bring her to Chicago,” General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said. “She is one of the all-time elite passers in our game and continues to play at a high level on both sides of the ball.”

“Diggins is the kind of player who elevates everyone around her,” Head Coach Tyler Marsh said. “Skylar is a true veteran leader, and she possesses unmatched speed and shot creation potential. I can’t wait to work with her.”

Last season with the Seattle Storm, Diggins averaged 15.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.

Playmaking

First and foremost, she brings elite playmaking. Long regarded as one of the top point guards in the WNBA, Diggins has built her career on controlling the tempo and elevating teammates. Her ability to read defenses, create passing lanes, and orchestrate the offense should immediately improve a Sky team that struggled with consistency in the half-court. With Diggins running the show, expect cleaner possessions, better spacing, and more high-quality shot opportunities.

Scoring

Diggins’ impact goes beyond passing. Diggins is still a proven scorer who can take over games when needed. Whether it’s attacking off the dribble, knocking down mid-range jumpers, or finishing at the rim, she gives Chicago a reliable perimeter scoring option. In late-game situations—where the Sky often faltered last season—her shot creation becomes even more valuable. She provides a go-to presence who can settle the offense and deliver in clutch moments.

Leadership

Equally important is the leadership she brings. As a veteran and multiple-time All-Star, Diggins steps into a locker room that needs direction following major roster turnover. Her experience in high-pressure situations and playoff environments sets a standard for professionalism and competitiveness. Younger players benefit from her presence, while the team as a whole gains a stronger sense of accountability and identity.

Ultimately, Diggins becomes the centerpiece of Chicago’s offensive identity. Whether she’s facilitating for teammates or creating her own shot, everything flows through her decision-making. While the Sky may still be developing into a true contender, her presence significantly raises their floor and competitiveness.

Diggins has played for over 10 years and is a 7-time All-Star. She also made six All-WNBA teams and was named the Most Improved Player in 2014. In her career, Diggins averages 16.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.
