Downtown Phoenix is gearing up to host the WNBA Finals, and the pregame of Game 3 showed that the Phoenix Mercury have an upset and ready-to-work mindset.

Getting to the WNBA Finals has shown that the Mercury have all the tools to compete with the best of the best, although the first two games haven’t gone according to plan.

Las Vegas Aces Head Coach Becky Hammon and Phoenix Mercury Head Coach Nate Tibbets spoke in pregame interviews about how the Mercury have a “pissed-off” locker room and mindset heading into Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. They both highlighted that after the heartbreaking loss in Game 1 and the inconsistency in Game 2, it will be on their minds as they get ready to take on A’ja Wilson and the Aces.

Pregame shootarounds were a relaxed effort as Lexi Held and Kitija Laksa were taking up early shots, though it seemed like they were holding in the intensity for later on. The embracing of the moment in the WNBA Finals has spoken volumes, and can only galvanize this Mercury team, which is itching to make some noise in Game 3. If the Mercury can embrace their home-court advantage highlighted by the X-Factor, then their intense and chip-on-the-shoulder mindset will definitely have a little fire behind it.
