WNBA Announces Olivia Miles Milestone During Lynx Game

Olivia Miles kept her foot on the gas on Monday night as the Minnesota Lynx hosted the Golden State Valkyries at Target Center. The 23-year-old has been on a tear in her rookie year, and she added another feather in her cap in the first quarter of Monday’s game.

Miles dropped a pass to Napheesa Collier, who powered her way to a bucket against three defenders. Miles was credited with the assist, which marked a career milestone for the 5-foot-10 guard.

The WNBA took to social media to announce the rookie’s latest feat.

“ With this assist to Phee, Olivia Miles recorded her 225th assist of the season She passes Ticha Penicheiro for the 2nd-most by a rookie in WNBA history!” the league posted on X.

That was Miles’ third assist of the game, which allowed her to climb the history books for most assists by a rookie. Miles now trails just Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark, who holds the all-time rookie record with 337 assists in her debut campaign in 2024.

Miles, the second overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft, is having an incredible year. Entering Monday’s game, the former Notre Dame and TCU standout is averaging 20.0 points on 50.1% shooting, 4.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals, while also knocking down 1.7 triples on a 40.4% clip.

Miles was named an All-Star in her first season, and she is the frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year Award.

Monday’s game is a big one for the Lynx. They have an opportunity to clinch the No. 1 seed with a win over the second-seeded Valkyries.

Minnesota entered this game with a 31-7 record and on a six-game winning streak. The Valkyries, on the other hand, are 25-11 and 5.0 games behind the Lynx.
