The Dallas Wings lost a thriller on Thursday night in a hard-fought battle against the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center. Paige Bueckers and Co. battled hard, but they ultimately came up short, 84-80, as the Valkyries marked their fifth straight win.
Bueckers went off again in this one, dropping a game-high 27 points on 11-of-20 shooting in the loss. The WNBA Rookie of the Year frontrunner also added four rebounds, six assists and four steals in 34 minutes of action.
Despite the loss, the 23-year-old star was still able to make history again on Thursday night. The WNBA took to social media to announce Bueckers’ latest feat during the game.
“BREAKIN’ RECORDS In the third, Paige Bueckers officially passes Arike Ogunbowale’s single-season scoring record with the @DallasWings (630 points set back in 2019),” the league posted on X.

In the third, Paige Bueckers officially passes Arike Ogunbowale’s single-season scoring record with the @DallasWings (630 points set back in 2019).

As indicated in the announcement, Bueckers surpassed Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale for the all-time franchise record. Ogunbowale has been out of action since early August because of a knee injury, and it does not seem like Dallas will bring her back this season with just two games remaining on its schedule.
As for Bueckers, Thursday’s feat is another feather in her cap. She has been incredible all season long, but her outstanding play has not been enough to lead the Wings to a winning record.
Dallas lost its ninth straight game on Thursday and remains at the bottom of the WNBA with a 9-33 record. They are well on their way to finishing in last place this season.
