On Friday, the 2025 WNBA preseason featured a comeback game for a particular player for the Connecticut Sun. The player they drafted in 2010, Tina Charles, showed significant dominance despite being on the older side. Although it's an exhibition game against the New York Liberty, the aging veteran had a prominent outing.
While many have transitioned into stretching the defense with their 3-pointer, Charles stayed true to her game by staying inside the paint. Against the New York team that didn't showcase All-Star forward Breanna Stewart (rest), the former MVP took charge.
The 6-foot-4 forward had a dominant game with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Defensively, Charles collected two steals.
With her outing on both ends, the Sun ended their preseason games on a high note with a 94-86 victory. The WNBA recognized Charles' impressive showing and had something to say about her after the game.
"Tina Charles was a presence in the paint to lead the Sun to the preseason win over the Liberty!"

In February, the league's all-time rebounding leader struck a one-year deal to return to the Connecticut franchise. Charles started her career with the Sun after she was picked first overall by the franchise in 2010 and won the Rookie of the Year.
The center played for the team in her first four seasons and developed into one of the best interior players in the league. In her sophomore year, she was named an All-Star and won the MVP award the following year.
Having Charles back is a nostalgic sight for fans who have followed the organization closely.
