The Los Angeles Sparks came into Wednesday having lost seven of their last nine games, but they defeated the Las Vegas Aces by a final score of 97-89 to improve to 4-7 on the season.
The Aces got very strong performances from Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young, who scored 28 and 34 points, respectively. But Kelsey Plum registered 13 points and nine assists for the Sparks, while forward Rickea Jackson poured in 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range.
On its official X account, the WNBA recognized Jackson for her big game as Commissioner's Cup play continues across the league.

The Sparks are now 2-2 in Commissioner's Cup play, which puts them in fifth place on the Western Conference leaderboard.
They came into this season with some hope that they could be competitive and possibly even claim a playoff spot following their acquisition of Plum, a guard who made the All-Star team in each of the previous three seasons. So far this season, she's averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 assists and 1.8 steals a game.
Jackson, who is in her second season after she was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has struggled so far this year after a promising 2024 campaign. But her big game on Wednesday helped boost her season stats, and it could serve as proof of concept that she has a bright future ahead of her.
Los Angeles will visit the Minnesota Lynx, who are 9-1 and nearly won the championship last year, on Saturday in a nationally televised contest.
