Kate Martin has established herself as a fan favorite in the WNBA after being drafted by the Las Vegas Aces in 2024. With that said, it's no surprise why her supporters were excited to see her take part in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league.
However, Martin hasn't played for her Unrivaled team, the Laces BC, since early February. She has only suit up in six games, averaging 7.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in those outings.
As reported previously, Martin is apparently dealing with a left leg issue, and by the looks of it, she still needs some time to recover.
According to Meghan L. Hall of For The Win, the now Golden State Valkyries guard isn't expected to return to action for the Laces in their upcoming games as she continues to "rehab" from her injury.
The 24-year-old is projected to "return towards the end of the season," although there's no specific target date mentioned for her comeback.
"Kate Martin and Kahleah Copper are not expected to be on the bench during upcoming games as they continue to rehab from injuries. They are expected to return to towards the end of the season," Hall wrote.
Several Unrivaled updates:
— Meghan L. Hall (@ItsMeghanLHall) March 3, 2025
— Sabrina Ionescu will not participate in any remaining games due to prior commitments
— Naz Hillmon has been signed to a relief player contract
— Natisha Hiedeman will be reassigned to Phantom BC ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Lunar Owls…
The Laces have only two games left on the season, and it's still unknown if they are going to make the playoffs.
Only the top four teams advance to the postseason of the 3-on-3 league, and following the Laces' loss to Rose BC, they are now 5-7 for the No. 5 seed.
With that said, there remains the possibility that Martin won't have the opportunity to play again this campaign.
