According to ESPN.com, following last week’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, the Seattle Storm are under the WNBA’s microscope for a possible infraction.
Following the Aces win over the Storm last week, the WNBA inquired about an incident where a Seattle Storm assistant coach cursed at an Aces player, Seattle general manager Talisa Rhea confirmed on Thursday.
A source did not say who the player was or who the infraction was against.
Rhea said Thursday that the WNBA’s probe of the comment remains active.
“We’re aware,” Rhea said. “It’s an alleged comment and the league is looking into it and that’s really the extent of it. It’s not an investigation into our organization, and it’s with the league, so we’re just waiting. That’s all the information we have and can share at this time.”
At the conclusion of last season, former Storm and current Aces guard Jewell Loyd filed a complaint the Storm’s coaching staff. Loyd later requested a trade and dealt to the Las Vegas Aces on February 1 in a three-team trade deal that sent Kelsey Plum to the Los Angeles Sparks.
Storm coach Noelle Quinn told reporters in February, “I believe that the organization did the right thing. Throughout this entire process, the communication level was tremendously high. I felt supported in a lot of ways and I know my staff felt supported as well. With anything like this, it is important to take the right steps and our organization did that.”
