A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces outlasted the Washington Mystics on Friday. The reigning WNBA MVP had a dominating all-around game against the Mystics. Wilson had 15 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, two steals and three blocks.
Wilson may not have led the team in points, but her energy showed in how she performed all around the floor. With her performance, she led the team to an improved 2-1 record for the 2025 season.
Washington's rookies, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, did the best they could against the championship-caliber team. Citron had 19 points on 66.7% shooting from deep. Iriafen, meanwhile, had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
This season, Wilson had a strong start to her campaign. The six-time All-Star is still at the top of her game as she continues to make a significant impact on both ends.
Against the Mystics, the superstar had a significant accomplishment with her defense. After recording her third block, she joined the top 10 of the all-time leaders in blocks, replacing Elizabeth Williams. Wilson now has 447 blocks under her name.

Interestingly, it could be a battle between the two defenders since Williams is still active in the league. This season, the Chicago Sky center-forward has two blocks.
Wilson is a monster on defense and has proof of how great she is of a defender. In her young career, the Aces star has received the Defensive Player of the Year award twice. At one point, she won the MVP and DPOY in the same season (2022).
The Wilson-led team played against the Mystics for the first time this year. The next time they'll play against each other will be on June 26.
