The 2025 WNBA season is winding down, and the playoff picture is starting to take its final shape. Teams like the Dallas Wings, Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun have long been eliminated from contention, but the league's other teams are still duking it out.

Connecticut has made an admirable run at the end of the season, winning five of its last nine games to crawl into 11th place in the league standings, out from the gutter of 13th, where they have spent the majority of the campaign.

One of the big reasons the Sun have had success down the stretch is the play of 36-year-old center Tina Charles. In her 14th WNBA season, and her first in Connecticut since 2013, Charles is averaging 16.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Charles' incredible season has seen her rise up all-time WNBA leaderboards in a smattering of different statistical categories. On Wednesday evening against the Chicago Sky, she'll have a chance to pass one of Diana Taurasi's records.

Taurasi currently has the WNBA's all-time record for field goals made in a career with 3,341. Charles sits at 3,339 heading into Wednesday night's game. Charles is averaging 6.0 made field goals per game in 2025 and has just three games with one made field goal this year.

Outside of an unforeseen circumstance, it is likely that Charles ends the night as the league's all-time leader in field goals made. She is still 2,312 points behind Taurasi for No. 1 on the scoring list, but she'll pass Taurasi in this metric while playing 95 fewer games.

Tina Charles' WNBA Career and Accomplishments

Charles is one of the most popular and decorated players in the WNBA's storied history. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft out of UConn has exceeded even the highest of expectations and made it to the mountaintop of the league with the 2012 MVP award.

She is also an eight-time All-Star and nine-time member of the All-WNBA team and four-time member of the All-Defensive Team. Charles led the league in scoring twice, rebounding four times and won the Dawn Staley Leadership Award in 2012 as well as the Community Assist Award on three occasions.

Her spot on the WNBA's Top-25 all-time list was essentially a guarantee, and Charles' career averages of 17.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals are in a class by themselves. Now, she has the chance to earn another distinction on Wednesday against the Sky.
