WNBA Team Announces Roster Decision Before Indiana Fever Game
© David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

The Connecticut Sun have had a challenging 2025 season. They enter Tuesday’s game against the Indiana Fever with a 3-18 record (.143), last in the WNBA and the Eastern Conference.

Despite a few bright spots, like veteran center Tina Charles pacing the team with 15.4 points per game and rookie guard Saniya Rivers growing rapidly into a dependable starter, the Sun have dropped 12 of their last 13 contests.

Coach Rachid Meziane has juggled personnel in hopes of finding a spark, but roster upheaval has hindered continuity.

After losing every member of last year’s starting five this offseason, the Sun have leaned heavily on young players like Rivers, Jacy Sheldon and Olivia Nelson-Ododa, all three averaging more than 23 minutes a night.

On Tuesday, Connecticut made another roster move, signing forward Haley Peters to a seven‑day contract, adding a familiar face to the wings.

Peters, a 6‑foot‑3 forward and former McDonald’s All‑American, starred at the Peddie School before enrolling at Duke (2010–2014), where she started 108 of 136 games.

At Duke, she averaged 10.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for her career, still ranking seventh on the program’s all‑time rebound chart (273).

Peters earned All-ACC Third Team honors as a junior, All‑ACC Second Team honors as a senior, claimed two ACC regular‑season titles and three ACC Tournament crowns.

Undrafted in 2014, Peters spent the last decade playing primarily overseas, with stints in Spain and France as well as brief contracts with the San Antonio Silver Stars (2016-17), Washington Mystics (2017) and Atlanta Dream (2019).

Peters originally inked a training camp deal with Connecticut before the season and has appeared in 19 games, averaging 2.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
