WNBA's Most 'Valuable' Franchise Named - It's Not The Fever

The growth of the WNBA has been one of the most intriguing stories in sports over the past several years. And when the Indiana Fever drafted Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick in 2024, the league saw an explosion in popularity like never before.

With the sales numbers and eyeballs the Fever have drawn you would think they might be the W's most valuable team (and maybe one day they will be), but they're barely within $200 million of the league's top franchise.

According to Sportico, it's actually the WNBA's newest brand that's worth the most money in a league that's now valued at $3.5 billion — and that would be the expansion Golden State Valkyries.

Per sports business reporter Kurt Badenhausen, here are the 13 WNBA valuations ranked 1-13:

  1. Golden State Valkyries ($500 million)
  2. New York Liberty ($420 million)
  3. Indiana Fever ($335 million)
  4. Las Vegas Aces ($290 million)
  5. Seattle Storm ($285 million)
  6. Phoenix Mercury ($250 million)
  7. Minnesota Lynx ($240 million)
  8. Los Angeles Sparks ($225 million)
  9. Chicago Sky ($210 million)
  10. Washington Mystics ($200 million)
  11. Dallas Wings ($195 million)
  12. Connecticut Sun ($180 million)
  13. Atlanta Dream ($165 million)

Team values in the W are up an average of 180% — much of which can be attributed to an influx of talent, better marketing and superstars with massive followings like Caitlin Clark.

It's hard to imagine the arrow won't continue to point up for the WNBA with the new fans its seen get behind its product. Which valuation are you most surprised by on this list?
