WWE Survivor Series: WarGames takes over San Diego’s Petco Park this Saturday, and this year’s edition is special for several reasons. It will be the first edition to be held outdoors in a stadium, and will mark the final PLE appearance of John Cena.

Cena will defend his newly won Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series. While WWE had better options at their disposal, Cena vs. Dom will undoubtedly be a fun and memorable encounter. However, it’s the ending that matters the most, and it’s difficult to predict a winner at this stage.

Nonetheless, here, we propose four finishes for John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series: WarGames.

#4. John Cena Defeats Dominik Mysterio Clean

Since Saturday Night’s Main Event technically doesn’t count as a PLE, Survivor Series: WarGames will mark John Cena’s final PLE appearance. Thus, for the sake of nostalgia and celebration, Cena going over Dom clean would make a ton of sense.

Although the match will take place in Dom’s hometown, Cena will be heavily cheered. The crowd will back the Never Seen 17, who could teach the arrogant Mysterio a lesson in respect. Furthermore, it will help the Champ build momentum towards his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

#3. Dominik Mysterio Defeats Cena to Reclaim His Intercontinental Championship

When a rematch between John Cena and Dominik Mysterio was announced for Survivor Series, many fans were confused. Some were expecting him to join the babyfaces in the Men’s WarGames match, while others were expecting a surprise opponent.

However, if Dom reclaims the Intercontinental Championship, WWE’s decision to book the rematch would be justified. The IC Title was the missing piece in Cena’s resume, and having the Never Seen 17 win the belt in his hometown to become a Grand Slam Champion is a wonderful tale.

Cena will not hold the championship for long, so the safest option is to drop the belt to the previous champion. Considering Dom’s cowardly nature, he will likely cheat his way to his second Intercontinental Championship.

#2. Rey Mysterio Helps Cena Retain the IC Championship

As long as Rey Mysterio is around, Dominik Mysterio will always have a consistent thorn in his path. The Hall of Famer has unfinished business with his son, and we are likely headed to another father vs. son clash somewhere down the line. The seeds have already been planted, and the next chapter could be written at Survivor Series.

Dom could be pulling his usual shenanigans behind the referee’s back, but his plan would backfire. The Master of the 619 would emerge to distract his son, allowing John Cena to take advantage and hit the Attitude Adjustment for the pinfall win.

#1. Gunther Costs John Cena the Intercontinental Championship

For those fans who haven’t figured it out yet, Gunther is most certainly going to be John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event. It’s been rumored for months, and the dynamics of the “Last Time is Now” tournament essentially confirm his victory.

Although The Ring General is yet to win the semi-finals against Solo Sikoa, he may take it upon himself to strike first. Cena is not scheduled to appear between Survivor Series and Saturday Night’s Main Event. Thus, WWE needs to be creative and smart with the build for his final match.

Thus, the favorite to win the tournament, Gunther, could cost Cena the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series, adding heat to their eventual clash and some unpredictability.
