AEW Champion MJF Just Ruled Out Joining WWE

AEW World Champion MJF has made several interesting comments about his future in wrestling, and one of them looks to have ruled out ever debuting in WWE. The Salt of the Earth previously claimed he is the biggest star not to have appeared in WWE, and that might be the case once he calls time on his career.

Still only 29, MJF has a bright future ahead of him and will leave a lasting legacy in the business, whether he stays with AEW for life. He is a two-time world champion and one of the biggest stars in the industry today.

MJF Might Be AEW For Life

MJF was a member of AEW when the promotion formed in January 2019 and has since become a main-event talent. He holds a strong relationship with the company's owner, Tony Khan, which he touched on during an interview with KVIA.

The AEW World Champion suggested he doesn't see him ever leaving AEW:

"What keeps me in AEW is my ability to be myself; there’s no leash on me. I don’t have to worry about anyone sitting me down and telling me what I am doing right or wrong. My boss knows I am the draw. I have the World title right now. Ratings are up, ticket sales are up. I wonder why? He lets me do my thing. So, I don’t think I’ll ever leave."

MJF is constantly rumored to be on WWE's radar, and such speculation intensified in 2024 when he used reports about his future to build uncertainty. He suggested that the "bidding war of 2024" could lead him to jump ship, but he instead signed a new deal with AEW.

WWE have signed several former AEW talent in recent months, including Royce Keys (Powerhouse Hobbs) and Danhausen. But MJF's stance suggests he isn't interested in following them to the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

MJF Could Be Watered Down in WWE

AEW's programming is targeted at a specific pro wrestling audience, which allows for more creative freedom. That includes using controversial language and making comments that would almost certainly not run in WWE.

MJF compared Swerve Strickland to the disgraced rapper Diddy back in December, which drew some backlash. But it's been the norm for him in AEW, and it's why he might have reservations over leaving.

WWE doesn't exactly need MJF at the moment, given their roster is stacked with talent, particularly manipulative heels. He is still young and may end up in the promotion one day, given his star power and the fact that you can never say never in pro wrestling.
