It appears that AEW has signed another former WWE Superstar. The Tony Khan-led company does have a lot of former WWE stars on its roster, including two of the biggest names: Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson. So it’s not something new for AEW to hire former stars, just as it’s not uncommon for WWE to do the same. So let’s see who is now a new member of the AEW roster.

It was first confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful on Wednesday, November 26, that Lacey Lane — former NXT and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Kayden Carter — is officially part of the All Elite Wrestling roster. She has already made her AEW debut, which was on the October 7 special, Title Tuesday, where she lost to TBS Champion Mercedes Mone. She must have made a good expression.
Lane also wrestled a few matches in AEW’s sister company, ROH, this past September. Lane is best known for her tag team wrestling, and with the new Women’s Tag Team Titles, she might need to find a partner. Maybe her former WWE partner, Katana Chance? Though Chance has recently returned to American Ninja Warrior, she might have to find a new tag team partner if she chooses that path anyway.
As previously reported, in an interview with Denise Salcedo, Lane spoke about her time in WWE with not much admiration for the company. She revealed how she felt she and Chance weren’t taken seriously enough and were set up to fail in the company, even though they became the first women to have won the Women’s NXT Tag Team Titles and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. It’s not a lie that they were overlooked.
Lane signed with WWE in July 2018. She was part of the 2018 Mae Young Classic, where she made it to the quarterfinals. She and Chance were both released in May 2025. Her last WWE match was a non-televised match on the April 18, 2025, episode of SmackDown. The match saw her and Chance defeat Alba Fyre and Piper Niven.
So hopefully, Lane doesn’t feel like she’s set up to fail in AEW and has a better experience. Some former WWE wrestlers have seen success, while others return to the company years later. It will be interesting to see what will happen to Lane in AEW.
