After making his entrance on this week’s Raw, AJ Styles had a lot of things to get off his chest. He cut a strange promo during the commercial break, which seemed to many like a mini pipe bomb. The 48-year-old addressed failing to regain the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio, as the latter worked in cahoots with El Grande Americano to cost ‘Mr. TNA’ the coveted title.
Styles, however, broached that it could’ve been his fault. He underscored that he has no one to back him up for probably the first time in his career, with former OC members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson no longer in WWE and Michin being a SmackDown exclusive. ‘The Phenomenal One’ conspicuously targeted an unnamed figure, claiming that they orchestrated a way for him not to win anymore.
The former NJPW icon said he will allow the fans to devise their own conclusions about it, but went on to affirm that somebody in the back doesn’t want him there anymore. That revelation from Styles elicited loud boos from the Milwaukee crowd. ‘The Face That Runs the Place’ soon segued into the task at hand by saying that he would beat Americano so that the person who wants him out felt some of that pain too.

Styles delivered on his promise by pinning Ludwig Kaiser, disguised as a masked luchador, with the help of Dragon Lee. It was a welcome win for the two-time WWE Champion, as victories have been hard to come by for him of late.
In fact, amid all the discourse regarding him being in a spot of bother in WWE, Styles recently posted an hourglass picture on his Instagram with his logo. Also, his son concurred with a fan sentiment of Triple H booking Styles in a disrespectful fashion.
At first instance, it wasn’t a cakewalk to decipher AJ Styles’ shoot-style promo on Raw. But an interesting development has likely given it away that ‘The Georgia Pitbull’ didn’t go off the rails and, in fact, did a great job at making the audience believe that someone in WWE is plotting against him.
The aforementioned segment has been uploaded to the company’s official YouTube channel with the video titled, “AJ Styles GOES OFF on Monday Night Raw officials.” The fact that WWE itself is promoting it on its digital platforms could only mean that the angle they are running with Styles is intentional.

Could that be the beginning of something good for the ex-Bullet Club leader? One would want to believe it, as Styles doesn’t have much time left on his current WWE deal. As per Fightful, it’s up in February 2026. The next few months are going to be extremely pivotal for WWE to try utilizing the veteran wrestler in a way that would make him stay with them.
AJ Styles signed a year-long contract extension with WWE that set the stage for his Royal Rumble return this year. But was he exploring outside options at any point before coming back? The answer is yes, as per Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated. The latter noted that ‘The Phenomenal One’ put out feelers to gauge outside interest before getting retained by WWE.
Alba added that Styles was generating interest from the promoters on the convention circuit, and it was mutual. The report from Alba couldn’t conclude whether Styles was looking to wrestle for other promotions or not. Although there’s absolutely no indication about it at this point, the former OC leader might be interested in jumping ship to AEW next year.
Multiple sources indicated that prior to re-signing with WWE on his most recent extension, AJ Styles did indeed put feelers out about potential options outside of the company.

If not under Tony Khan ‘s leadership, Styles could choose to permanently return to TNA, which would allow him to wrestle for WWE as well on an intermittent basis due to their strategic working partnership. He recently made a special appearance at Slammiversary and put over Leon Slater . It marked his first outing with Total Non-Stop Action in almost a decade.
