NXT In A Nutshell: Roadblock On The Way To Philadelphia

Carmelo against Tony D’Angelo was a really good match and should help elevate Tony D.

That was how good Roadblock was.

Worst match of the night:

As I used to say way back when I did these the last time? Something has to go here, right?

Spears against Uriah making his debut. Just because it was short and uneventful, other than to reintroduce us to Spears.

The action after was nice though.

Big points for Tony D’Angelo with a huge win…biggest for him so far maybe?

I mean, the tag title win was big…but now he has a chance to earn singles gold in South Philly, not too far from the Rocky statue.

Nice return for Trick Williams too.

Spot of the Night:

That stomp by Roxy on Lyra is hard to ignore.

Plenty of good carnage in the cage match too. Seriously, Gacy wrestled a good bit with duct tape over his eyes.

Jobber of the Night:

Uriah, losing his NXT debut to the returning Shawn Spears.

Or, Tatum Paxley, because there was no way the Kabuki Warriors were losing, the same as there was no chance Valkyria was taking the loss while NXT Champ.

Upset of the Night:

Melo was not happy with the music playing during his match. He was even more unhappy after.

Holy S--- Moment of the Night:

Roxanne Perez leaving no doubt about a heel turn with a really brutal looking shot to Lyra’s arm after the tag title match.

Regal got back on TV…and certainly didn’t expect him and Charlie to sort of be a bit…at odds?

Botch of the night:

Paxley had some weak looking kicks.

Melo might not miss, but some of Trick’s shots looked like they did.

Can’t say I blame him though, he seemed quite hyped up to be back and in action.

Commentary of the night:

Vic and Booker is fun.

I will say it…Vic reminds me a bit of Joey Styles.

LOL Moment of the night:

You have to laugh at the NXT crowd chanting “that’s your father” as William Regal came down to talk to Charlie Dempsey and the rest of the No Quarter Catch Crew.

Also, honorable mention to Dempsey’s facial expressions during the segment before Regal came down

Noteworthy Moment:

Just going to leave this one here…because it just impresses me that he performed how he did.

Overall lowlights:

Nothing.

Overall highlights:

Just like that, it sure seems like the Stand and Deliver card should be easier to project.

Ava announced a tag tournament to decide who takes the gold off of Bron and Corbin.

Roxanne surely wants a date with Lyra for that title.

Trick and Melo should probably steal the show.

Ilja and Tony D will do battle.

As with any classic TakeOver before it…this card is shorter, but very sweet.

After the final bell:

Not going to lie or exaggerate, but that was a really fun show.

Roadblock on the way to Philadelphia indeed!

Some obvious surprises (like Trick) but still nice because he didn’t interfere (not exactly).

Regal back on TV was unexpected, considering recent reports. Sol Ruca is back too.

This one hit all the right notes on the way to Philadelphia and Stand and Deliver.
