  • Andrade says Rey Fenix "brought out his angel"—they bonded, ate post‑show and brainstormed together.
  • Their short WWE tag run (June–July) climaxed at the SummerSlam TLC tag title match.
  • WWE enforced a one‑year non‑compete after his AEW appearance, leaving Andrade's status uncertain.

Amid Andrade’s drama with the WWE contract clause, the former star spoke highly of his last days with the company. Well, highly because of who his tag team partner was — Rey Fenix.

Andrade Praises Former Tag Team Partner Rey Fenix

Earlier this week, Andrade took to Instagram to do a Q&A, and he was asked about what it was like teaming with Fenix on WWE SmackDown. Andrade spoke about how he brought out his good side. He said:

“This dude brought out my angel. When we were wrestling, we were always chatting about stories and where we’d go eat after. We were always chill and brainstorming new ideas. We became great bros.”

The two really hadn’t been tag team partners that long — between June and July. The last match that Andrade was in before his WWE release in September was for the WWE Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam. He and Fenix were part of the TLC match that also included the champions The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis), #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa), Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer), The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), and The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin).

What’s Fenix doing now? He was one of Sami Zayn’s open challenge opponents for the United States Championship when Zayn was the champion and Fenix teamed with Je’Von Evans on SmackDown recently. So WWE is at least using him. It’s safe to say that fans can’t wait until he starts tagging with his brother, Penta.

Andrade Is In Limbo

Andrade was reportedly released due to several Wellness Policy violations. It was first thought that he didn’t have a non-compete clause, and that was the reason why he returned to AEW on the October 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he joined the Don Callis Family.

Of course, WWE and TKO weren’t happy with his return and are the reason why he’s been off AEW TV. The company decided to enforce its one-year non-compete clause on him, and that’s why he’s in limbo.

Andrade did get one match in before he got in trouble with WWE. On October 3, for the promotion of The Crash. He defeated DMT Azul and became The Crash Heavyweight Champion. However, it’s unclear if he will have to relinquish the title if he can’t wrestle for a year. So we all will have to wait to see what will happen next for Andrade.
