Becky Lynch talks WWE return, working with MJF on ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Becky Lynch almost returned at the Royal Rumble.

In an interview with Variety, Lynch talked about taking time off last year and how she almost returned at the Royal Rumble, but ended up waiting until WrestleMania 41 due to a skin condition.

“I took what I thought was going to be three months off during the summer, when my contract came up,” Lynch said. “I was like, ‘Okay, seems like a good time to take a little break, get some stuff done.’ Then other things came up – I was filming ‘Star Trek,’ and then ‘Happy Gilmore.’ There was talk [of a return] around Rumble time, but then at the last minute, I got a skin condition. The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed to make sense, especially if I could take Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant.”

In addition to Star Wars: Starfleet Academy, Lynch also makes an appareance in ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ Lynch said she did end up meeting the other pro wrestler on the set: AEW star MJF.

“I did. You know, a very nice boy. Great chats,” she said. “Of course, he knows he’d lose at [a promo battle], but we had great chats. Unfortunately, it was way before this happened, but I feel like he would completely agree with everything that I’m saying about Lyra.”

MJF responded to her comments on social media: “Agree with Becks fully on Lyra, she seems like a horrible person and clearly a gross poor. Enjoyed my time with “the man” on set. A very nice girl and an upstanding citizen. However….. not too sure about her thoughts on a potential promo battle.”
