Recently ex-WWE competitor Bobby Steveson (Damon Kemp), whose wrestling career began with WWE before being released from the roster, recently faucet of his career journey during the Casual Conversations With The Classic program interview. During a freewheeling Q&A with fans, Bobby Steveson expanded on several topics as they discussed, including his part in the Ambulance Match against RAW superstar Julius Creed at the Halloween Havoc event in October 2022.

He replayed the show when he began experiencing the pressure of the position, especially when it came to punching the button to activate The Diamond Mine, which gave the spectators a glimpse into the show and the necessary perseverance in the wrestling industry.

The Ambulance Match Experience

During the interview, Bobby Steveson recounted the circumstances surrounding the Ambulance Match, emphasizing how he found himself in a challenging situation.

I was thrown in the deep end. That match, the ambulance match, it wasn’t supposed to be me. It was supposed to be Julius vs. Roderick. Cause if you go back and watch, everything is kind of Roddy’s fault, and we’re, like, slowly figuring it out. And we were doing it, but I think he had an injury or something, or there was something else going on that I’m not totally familiar about, so I’m not going to touch on it.

As much as Bobby Steveson admitted that he probably didn’t know anything about his situation, he appreciated having the chance to wrestle in a higher-stack match.

Bobby Steveson Turning on The Diamond Mine

Bobby Steveson also said his character’s success week was when he betrayed the Diamond Mine. When asked about this particular moment, he said it is crucial for his professional growth. At that time, he had been with the company for about eight months and was ripe to make a difference. He explained

They’re like ‘You’re going to make the turn.’ And this was like…we did a few main events of the show, but this was my first moment for me, when I had to do the chair shot. And this time, I was like eight months in. I’m like ‘Dude, this is a big moment. If I miss this chair shot, I’m cooked. This is the biggest, a huge moment. If I miss this, I probably won’t be here tomorrow.

His determination to succeed at that moment highlighted the intensity of the wrestling business and the weight of expectations on emerging talents.

Conclusion

Specifically, Bobby Steveson’s statements during his first couple of years in WWE give an idea of how wrestling, or at least some wrestlers, perform under pressure. Struggling from the pressure of unexpected departure during an important match or handling characters and their progression, he shows determination is the key to success in professional wrestling. However, as he goes on creating his career, it leaves fans ready for whatever direction this talent will take.
