  • Brian Cage says his right-knee implant failed and he must undergo another surgery.
  • He tore a quadriceps tendon in March, fixed it, but the right-knee issue persisted.
  • AEW and peers have supported him while his Full Gear return hopes are delayed.

AEW star Brian Cage revealed some disappointing news on November 4 via his Instagram account. It appears that Cage will need to have surgery on his right knee.

Brian Cage Shares An Unfortunate Return Update

Cage has been out of action due to a torn quadriceps tendon that happened on March 20, 2025, while he was facing former WWE Superstar Chris Masters at an OWA show. Well, he got that fixed, and while he was sidelined, he decided to fix an issue with his right knee. Sadly, his knee replacement surgery didn’t work, and now he has to go under the knife again. Cage wrote:

“I busted my ass and have done everything imaginable to come back as quick and as healthy as possible. That being said I have some news. News that nobody would want to hear. There is an issue on the operation I had on my right knee. I was fighting an uphill battle that no amount of therapy, modalities, stem cells, peptides, etc, we're going to fix. I have to go back under the knife for them to try to fix or correct the situation.”

Cage also explained in an Instagram video that the implant in his right knee “looks like it may not have been attached” and “didn’t grow into the bone.” So that’s the issue and why he needs to have surgery again. Cage had been hoping to return this month for the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

Brian Cage Says AEW Has Been Supportive

The former ROH TV Champion also revealed that AEW has been assisting him and has had his back in this “crappy situation.” He’s also found support from his fellow wrestlers, including former WWE Superstar Elias, who wrote:

“You got this brotha! We’re here for ya!”

MVP, Matt Cardona, Chris Bey, Red Velvet, Leila Grey, and more also sent out their well-wishes.

Cage has been with AEW since 2020. Before he was injured, Cage was a member of the Don Callis Family. He was also tagging with Lance Archer, and they were known as the Murder Machines. His last AEW Dynamite was on March 12, 2025, where he and Dralistico were defeated by Hologram and Powerhouse Hobbs.

After that, Cage wrestled on two episodes of AEW Collision. His last AEW match was taped a day before his devastating injury, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The Collision episode would air on Saturday, March 22, 2025, and in the match, he, Archer, and Konosuke Takeshita defeated Powerhouse Hobbs, Mark Briscoe, and Rocky Romero. So here’s hoping for a speedy recovery!
