Chelsea Green Replaces Piper Niven in Women's Tag Title Match

WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced this afternoon that Piper Niven is “unavailable tonight” and Chelsea Green will take her place. So now it’s Flair and Bliss defending the titles against Green and Fyre. It was on the August 8 episode of SmackDown when Flair defeated Green.

The week after that, on August 15, Bliss defeated Niven, though on the August 22 episode, Flair lost to Niven. Of course, she lost because of Green interrupting the match and helping Niven get the pin.

Since WWE has been on its European tour, Charlotte and Alexa have been defending their titles against Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. It’s part of WWE’s live events. The pair have been the tag team champions since defeating Perez and Rodriguez during the first night of SummerSlam.

Meanwhile, Green has been pulling double duty on both SmackDown and NXT. She has aligned herself with NXT North American Champion Ethan Page. The last match she had on the developmental brand was at the NXT PLE Heatwave, where they defeated Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele.

What Else Is Happening Tonight?

During his announcement, Aldis also announced that Michin would be in a match against Kiana James. Tonight’s episode will take place in Lyon, France.

John Cena is set to appear. This will be his first time in Lyon, France. In a past interview with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, Cena spoke about how he couldn’t wait to see the crowd because the current roster had told them Lyon has the best crowd reactions.

Solo Sikoa will be defending his United States Championship against Sami Zayn. Zayn has never held the US Title in his WWE career.

There is a WWE Tag Team title number one contender’s match between The Street Profits and Carmelo Hayes & The Miz. The winners will go on to face the current champions — The Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy). The Wyatt Sicks have been the tag team champions since the July 11 episode of SmackDown, when they defeated the then-champions The Street Profits.
