John Cena's turning heel hasn't just made the wrestler front page news. After delivering a scathing promo on Monday Night Raw, one of the fans Cena specifically roasted is also getting attention. It was a heartbreaking moment that the WWE Universe can't seem to get enough of.
As Cena was laying into the fans on Monday, saying they had stolen 25 years from him because they forced him to be something he wasn't, he said he was giving them nothing as a result. He said the fans spat all over him even after he changed to please them. One young fan who likely wasn't in the group of fans Cena was describing tried to support his idol. "I love you!" he yelled as Cena was verbally unleashing on the crowd.
Cena then turned and, in mid-sentence, responded, "Everybody, including that one kid right there, is a toxic, dysfunctional relationship." The camera turned back to the kid as the smile left his face and he realized Cena was not the same person he'd grown up supporting.
The video was tagged "Kid's first real heartbreak." Given the circumstances, this title seemed fair. It was such a perfect moment that it almost feels like it could have been staged. The kid was wearing the same outfit, and his timing was impeccable.
Cena seemingly summed up the entire arc of his relationship with the fans in a 20-plus minute promo on Monday, saying that this young man might be a bit too young to understand. For this kid, he's probably supported Cena unconditionally. Still, Cena dumped them. Cena called it breaking up with the fans and this young fan likely hasn't experienced anything like that either.
As a YouTube short, the video has received over 25 thousand thumbs up. The YouTube video of Cena's promo has had over 4 million views in two days. Clearly, this was a moment that fans are invested in, and time will tell how often we see this kid's face in the future. Perhaps, like The Miz girl or the Undertaker fan who was shocked by his WrestleMania streak ending, the clip will be rewatched and highlighted by WWE for years to come.
