*- match order could change depending on the result of the KO-D Tag title match on day one

Higuchi Faces Akiyama for the KO-D Belt Again

Kazusada Higuchi and Jun Akiyama will wrestle once again for the KO-D Openweight title, but on opposite sides of the coin this time around. When they first fought for the title four years ago, Akiyama was the champion, and he was victorious.

Higuchi would get his revenge a year later when he eliminated Akiyama from the King of DDT tournament, beating him in the semifinals to win the tourney eventually and the then vacant KO-D Openweight title for the first time in his career. Both wrestlers having one win against each other gives more weight to their third encounter, headlining DDT’s biggest show of the year.

Akiyama will turn 56 in October and is looking to prove that he is still a force to be reckoned with in the industry, and to do that, he will have to defeat Higuchi, who has been on a roll since returning from injury last March. Who will prevail and go on to defend on day two at Korakuen against Yuki Ueno?

The Apex Defends Against Damnation T.A.

The reigning KO-D Tag Team champions will defend their titles for the second time against the challenge of Damnation Total Addiction’s Daisuke Sasaki and Hideki Okatani. This match now has bigger implications for day two, as announced at the event’s press conference on August 27.

DDT announced that whichever team wins on day one will have to defend the tag titles on day two. Whichever team loses will wrestle in the third match on day two, while the champions will be in the fourth match.

It will be The Apex’s size, strength, and athleticism against Damnation T.A.’s underhanded tactics, violence, and Sasaki’s veteran savvy. Whichever team wins will have challenging assignments the following day, as Damnation will be in a three-way tag and Iino and Naya will face the dangerous combination of HARASHIMA & Shinya Aoki.

Suzuki Head-to-Head Against MAO

DDT Universal champion Minoru Suzuki is set for a busy weekend, as he will face Muscle Sakai on day one and defend his title against three-time Universal champion MAO. Two matches of different magnitudes for the battle-tested vet, but also two opportunities to inflict pain against a couple of DDT’s finest.

MAO competed in NJPW’s Best of the Super Junior a few months back, showing the world once again that DDT wrestlers can hang with the world’s finest. While he has been Universal champion before, he will face a completely different monster in Suzuki, who’s looking to solidify his reign and add on more accomplishments to what is already a legendary career.

TMDK vs. Schadenfreude, Tanahashi vs. Dieno

A couple of cross-promotional matches also highlight this year’s Peter Pan shows as the stars of NJPW come to visit. On day one, a tag team match between the team of reigning IWGP World Heavyweight champion Zack Sabre Jr. and Kosei Fujita, and two-time KO-D Openweight champion Chris Brookes and Takeshi Masada will take place.

ZSJ wrestled his first match in DDT in April 2024, tagging with his fellow Brit Brookes. This time, they will be on opposite sides as leaders of their own units, teaming up with two bright young stars in Fujita and Masada.

On day two, it will be The Ace and President of NJPW, Hiroshi Tanahashi, wrestling Danshoku Dieno. Appropriately branded as a dream match, this singles match will feature the styles that were at the forefront of the two promotions.
